Ingredients

  • 2 kg Ripe tomatoes
  • 500 g Brown onions
  • 500 g White sugar
  • 250 ml Ezy Sauce
  • 750 ml White vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Mustard powder
  • 1 tsp Ground cloves
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour
  • 4 tbsp Cold water

Directions

Step 1

Wash the tomatoes and remove their stems. Roughly chop them into small pieces.

Peel and finely chop the brown onions.

In a large, heavy-based pot, combine the chopped tomatoes, onions, white sugar, Ezy Sauce, white vinegar, salt, mustard powder, and ground cloves.

Place the pot over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer the relish uncovered for approximately 1.5 hours or until the mixture has thickened to your desired consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
