Ingredients

  • 450 grams beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons plum sauce
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 300 grams broccoli florets
  • 1 large red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 large carrot, julienned
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
  • 2 stalks scallions, sliced
  • 4 cups cooked jasmine rice (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, plum sauce, honey, red chili flakes, and cornstarch. Whisk until smooth to form the marinade and sauce base.

Step 2

Add the sliced beef to the marinade, mixing well to coat evenly. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Step 3

In a large wok or skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil over high heat. Add the beef in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 4

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to the wok. Stir fry the broccoli, red bell pepper, carrot, and onion for 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 6

Return the beef to the wok, along with the remaining marinade. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients.

Step 7

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced scallions for garnish.

Step 8

Serve hot on its own or over a bed of freshly cooked jasmine rice for a heartier meal.
