Ingredients

  • 4 pieces (about 6 oz each) salmon fillets
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 cloves (minced) garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons (chopped) fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons capers

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.

Step 2

Season both sides of each salmon fillet with 0.5 teaspoons of salt and a pinch of black pepper.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.

Step 4

Sear the salmon fillets, skin-side down first, for 2-3 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms. Transfer the salmon fillets to the prepared baking dish.

Step 5

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 6

Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and heavy cream. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Add the capers and fresh dill to the sauce and mix well.

Step 8

Pour the lemon-butter sauce over the salmon fillets in the baking dish.

Step 9

Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Step 10

Just before serving, melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and drizzle it over the baked salmon for added richness.

Step 11

Garnish with additional fresh dill and a slice of lemon, if desired. Serve immediately with your choice of sides, such as steamed asparagus or roasted baby potatoes.
