Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground pork
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped green onions
  • 40 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green onions. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 2

Set up a workstation with the wonton wrappers, a small bowl of water, and the prepared filling.

Step 3

Take one wonton wrapper and place it on a flat surface. Scoop about 1 teaspoon of the pork filling into the center of the wrapper.

Step 4

Dip your finger into the water and lightly moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper.

Step 5

Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges together firmly to seal in the filling.

Step 6

Optional: To create a classic wonton shape, bring the two opposite corners of the triangle together and seal with a small dab of water.

Step 7

Repeat the process until all the wonton wrappers are filled.

Step 8

Heat a large pot of water to boiling. Carefully drop the wontons into the boiling water in batches and cook for 3–4 minutes, or until they float to the top and the pork is cooked through.

Step 9

Alternatively, to pan-fry, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Arrange the wontons in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown. Add 1/4 cup of water to the skillet, cover, and let steam for another 2–3 minutes until fully cooked.

Step 10

Serve the wontons hot on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce, or add to a bowl of broth for wonton soup.
