  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • 10 leaves fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • 50 grams grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine with the garlic and olive oil.

Step 5

Season the sauce with dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using). Stir well.

Step 6

Bring the sauce to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 7

Taste the marinara sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Step 8

Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the marinara sauce and toss to coat evenly.
