Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cornmeal
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C). Place a 10-inch cast-iron skillet inside the oven to heat while you prepare the batter.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and egg until smooth.
