Ingredients

  • 200 grams All-purpose flour
  • 150 grams Granulated sugar
  • 125 grams Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 60 milliliters Milk
  • 7 medium Ripe plums
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cinnamon powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 9-inch round or square cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

Step 2

Wash the plums, slice them in half, and remove the pits. Set them aside.

Step 3

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer or whisk until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.

Step 5

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 6

Gradually fold in the dry mixture, alternating with milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Step 7

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly. Arrange the plum halves, cut side up, on top of the batter. Gently press them down slightly into the batter.

Step 8

If desired, sprinkle cinnamon powder over the plums for extra flavor.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.

Step 10

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 11

Before serving, dust the cake lightly with powdered sugar. Slice and enjoy!
