Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground beef
  • 1 large Yellow onion
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 0.5 cup Milk
  • 0.33 cup Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup Ketchup (for glaze)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Peel and finely dice the onion. Sauté it in a small pan over medium heat with a touch of oil until translucent and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and caramelized onions. If using parsley, chop it finely and add it to the mixture.

Step 4

Mix everything gently but thoroughly with your hands or a large spoon until the ingredients are evenly distributed. Be careful not to overmix as it can make the meatloaf dense.

Step 5

Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan or form a loaf shape on a lined baking sheet.

Step 6

In a small bowl, prepare the glaze by mixing the brown sugar and 1/4 cup of ketchup together. Spread this evenly over the top of the meatloaf.

Step 7

Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

Step 8

Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Step 9

Serve warm with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes and green beans.
