Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium (finely diced) onion
  • 2 (minced) garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 (beaten) egg
  • 2 tablespoons (chopped) parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 sheet (thawed) puff pastry
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed onion and garlic, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, parsley, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 4

On a floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangle if needed.

Step 5

Spoon the beef mixture lengthwise along one edge of the puff pastry, forming a log-like shape and leaving about 1 inch of space at the edges.

Step 6

Carefully roll the puff pastry over the beef mixture, sealing the edges by pinching them together. Place the seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 7

Brush the top of the roll with milk to help it achieve a golden-brown crust while baking.

Step 8

Using a sharp knife, make 3–4 small diagonal slits on top of the pastry to allow steam to escape while baking.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the beef is fully cooked through.

Step 10

Remove from the oven and let the roll rest for 5 minutes before slicing into portions. Serve warm and enjoy!
