Ingredients

  • 2 sheets Puff pastry sheets
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Jalapeños (optional, finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 8 pieces Cherry tomatoes (quartered)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil (for brushing)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Roll out one puff pastry sheet onto the parchment paper. Using a sharp knife, cut it into the shape of a large Christmas tree (triangle with a trunk). Set the excess dough aside for later use.

Step 3

In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and jalapeños (if using) until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the Christmas tree-shaped puff pastry.

Step 4

Place the second puff pastry sheet on top of the filling. Using the first tree as a guide, trim off the excess dough from the top sheet, creating a matching Christmas tree shape.

Step 5

Cut horizontal 'branches' on both sides of the tree, leaving about 1 inch of space in the center as the 'trunk.' Twist each branch gently to create a spiral effect.

Step 6

Whisk the egg and water together in a small bowl to create an egg wash. Brush the entire tree pastry with the egg wash.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.

Step 8

While the pastry is baking, toss the chopped parsley with olive oil and set aside.

Step 9

Once the Christmas tree is baked, let it cool for a few minutes. Decorate it by sprinkling the parsley 'greenery' over the branches and dotting it with cherry tomato 'ornaments.'

Step 10

Serve warm and let everyone pull apart branches of cheesy, flaky goodness. Enjoy your festive treat!
