Ingredients

  • 4 lbs Pork shoulder (or pork butt)
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce

Directions

Step 1

Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder, but leave a little fat for added flavor.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create the dry rub.

Step 3

Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, covering it completely.

Step 4

Place the seasoned pork shoulder into the Crock Pot.

Step 5

Pour the apple cider vinegar and chicken broth around the pork shoulder without washing off the rub.

Step 6

Cover the Crock Pot and cook on LOW for 8 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours, until the pork is fork-tender and easily shredded.

Step 7

Once cooked, carefully remove the pork from the Crock Pot and shred it using two forks.

Step 8

Return the shredded pork to the Crock Pot and mix it with its juices to keep it moist and flavorful.

Step 9

Stir in the barbecue sauce, and let it warm for another 10-15 minutes on LOW heat.

Step 10

Serve the pulled pork on buns, in tortillas, or as a main dish with your choice of sides. Enjoy!
