Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef stew meat
  • 1 medium (chopped) onion
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons (for garnish, optional) chopped parsley

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium heat, lightly brown the beef stew meat. This step is optional but helps build flavor.

Step 2

Transfer the browned beef to the crock pot.

Step 3

Add chopped onion, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper into the crock pot. Stir well to combine.

Step 4

Cover the crock pot with the lid and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the beef is tender.

Step 5

About 30 minutes before serving, mix the cornstarch and water in a small bowl to form a slurry. Add this to the crock pot and stir to thicken the sauce.

Step 6

Allow the sauce to thicken while continuing to cook for another 30 minutes.

Step 7

Serve over warm rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
