Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 green onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips against the grain. In a medium bowl, combine soy sauce and cornstarch. Add the beef strips and toss to coat. Let it marinate for 10 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, and water. Set the sauce aside.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Step 4

Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Step 5

Add broccoli florets, sliced carrot, and red bell pepper to the skillet. Stir fry the vegetables until tender-crisp, about 5-6 minutes.

Step 6

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the prepared sauce over it. Toss to combine and continue cooking for another 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the ingredients evenly.

Step 7

Drizzle sesame oil over the stir fry and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
