Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1.5 cups Cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1.5 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large Egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon Water (for egg wash)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, melted butter, and egg until well combined.

Step 3

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a dough forms.

Step 4

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 6–8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Step 5

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 7

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.

Step 8

Flatten each piece into a small disk, then place about 1 tablespoon of crumbled bacon and 1 tablespoon of shredded cheddar cheese in the center.

Step 9

Wrap the dough around the filling and pinch the edges together to seal, forming a bun. Place the sealed side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 10

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the buns with the egg wash.

Step 11

Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 12

Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm with your favorite dipping sauce or on their own!
