Ingredients

  • 450 grams fresh spinach
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 pieces garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 115 grams cream cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 0.25 teaspoons nutmeg (optional)
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons ground black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Wash the fresh spinach thoroughly and remove any tough stems. Set it aside to drain.

Step 2

In a large skillet or sauté pan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

Step 4

Gradually add the fresh spinach to the skillet in batches, stirring gently until it wilts completely. This will take about 3-5 minutes. Once wilted, remove the spinach from the pan and set it aside.

Step 5

In the same skillet, pour in the heavy cream and add the cream cheese. Stir continuously over medium heat until the cream cheese is fully melted and the mixture is smooth, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 6

Add the grated Parmesan cheese to the sauce and stir until it has melted and the sauce has thickened slightly.

Step 7

Sprinkle in the nutmeg (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

Step 8

Return the wilted spinach to the skillet and stir to coat it evenly in the creamy sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 9

Remove from heat and serve immediately as a side dish. Enjoy!
