Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoons salt
  • 3 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 0.75 cups milk
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a standard 12-cup muffin tin with muffin liners or lightly grease with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2

In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it begins to steam but does not boil. Remove from heat, add the contents of the Earl Grey tea bags directly to the milk, stir, and let it steep for 5 minutes.

Step 3

Strain the tea-infused milk into a clean bowl, discarding the tea leaves. Let the milk cool slightly while you prepare the other ingredients.

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until evenly combined.

Step 5

In a medium bowl, melt the butter and let it cool slightly. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the melted butter and whisk until smooth.

Step 6

Pour the wet ingredients (butter mixture and tea-infused milk) into the dry ingredients. Gently fold the mixture with a spatula until no dry streaks remain. Be careful not to overmix.

Step 7

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.

Step 8

Bake in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Step 9

Remove the muffins from the oven and let them cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 10

If desired, dust the tops of the cooled muffins with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy!
