Ingredients

  • 6 pieces Ripe saba bananas
  • 1 cup Jackfruit
  • 12 pieces Spring roll wrappers
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon Water

Directions

Step 1

Peel the saba bananas and slice each lengthwise into two equal halves.

Step 2

Open the can or package of jackfruit and cut the flesh into strips, about 1/4 inch wide.

Step 3

Separate the spring roll wrappers and place on a clean, dry surface.

Step 4

Lay one spring roll wrapper flat on a cutting board. Place one slice of banana and a few strips of jackfruit on the edge closest to you.

Step 5

Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar on top of the banana and jackfruit.

Step 6

Carefully begin to roll the wrapper away from you, folding the sides as you roll to secure the filling. Dampen the edge of the spring roll wrapper with water to seal the roll.

Step 7

Repeat steps 4-6 until all the bananas, jackfruit, and wrappers are used up.

Step 8

In a large, deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C).

Step 9

Gently add the turon rolls, a few pieces at a time to avoid overcrowding, and fry for about 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until they are crispy and golden brown.

Step 10

Once cooked, remove the turon from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 11

Allow the turon to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as a snack or dessert.
