Ingredients

  • 4 medium (about 500g) ripe tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large garlic cloves
  • 6 leaves fresh basil leaves
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoons red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Slice the tomatoes into halves or quarters, depending on their size. Set aside.

Step 2

Mince the garlic cloves finely. Roll the fresh basil leaves and slice them thinly into ribbons (chiffonade).

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-low heat. Once warm, add the butter and allow it to melt completely.

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.
