Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices sliced tomatoes
  • 4 slices sliced onions
  • 4 cheese slices
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt and black pepper until well combined. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Step 3

Place the patties on the preheated grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts and the patties are cooked to your desired level of doneness.

Step 4

While the burgers are cooking, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Crack the eggs gently into the skillet, cooking sunny-side up until the whites are set and the yolks remain runny, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 5

To toast the buns, spread the remaining tablespoon of butter onto the cut sides of the burger buns. Place them face-down on the grill or a dry skillet for about 2 minutes until they are lightly golden brown.

Step 6

To assemble the burgers, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of ketchup on the bottom half of each toasted bun.

Step 7

Layer each bun with a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, and a slice of onion.

Step 8

Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top of the vegetables.

Step 9

Carefully slide a sunny-side-up egg onto each cheese-covered patty.

Step 10

Top each with the other half of the bun and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious burger with egg!
