Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground bison
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices sliced tomato
  • 4 slices sliced red onion
  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground bison, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until the ingredients are fully incorporated. Avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties, each about ¾ inch thick.

Step 3

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly brush the surface with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Step 4

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C) for medium-well done burgers. Avoid pressing down on the patties to retain their juices.

Step 5

If desired, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to let the cheese melt.

Step 6

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or skillet for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of a toasted bun, followed by a slice of tomato, the cooked patty, a slice of red onion, and your choice of condiments such as ketchup and mayonnaise. Top with the other half of the bun.

Step 8

Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a salad, and enjoy your delicious buffalo burgers!
