Ingredients

  • 500 grams mashed potatoes
  • 200 grams green cabbage
  • 150 grams carrots
  • 100 grams green peas
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 50 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Chop the green cabbage into thin strips and shred the carrots coarsely.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the green cabbage, carrots, and green peas. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until soft and slightly golden. Transfer to a mixing bowl and let cool.

Step 3

In the same mixing bowl, combine the cooked vegetables with the mashed potatoes. Add salt, black pepper, and mix thoroughly.

Step 4

Shape the mixture into 8 equal-sized patties, about 2 inches wide and 1 inch thick.

Step 5

In a shallow dish, spread out the flour. Lightly dust each patty in the flour to coat. Beat the egg in a small bowl and set aside.

Step 6

In a large frying pan, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and the vegetable oil over medium heat.

Step 7

Dip each floured patty into the beaten egg and place them carefully in the pan. Fry in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crisp.

Step 8

Remove the cooked patties and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Serve warm and enjoy as a comforting breakfast, snack, or side dish.
