Ingredients

  • 3 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 12 pieces corn tortillas
  • 0.5 cup fresh cilantro
  • 1 small, diced red onion
  • 1 sliced avocado
  • 0.5 cup sour cream

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and smoked paprika.

Step 3

Rub the olive oil all over the brisket, then coat it with the spice mixture on all sides.

Step 4

Heat a large ovenproof pot over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until it's browned, about 4 minutes per side.

Step 5

Once seared, remove the pot from heat and pour the beef broth around the brisket in the pot. Add the lime juice.

Step 6

Cover the pot tightly with a lid or aluminum foil and transfer it to the preheated oven.

Step 7

Cook the brisket in the oven for 3 to 4 hours or until the meat is fork-tender and easily shreds.

Step 8

Remove the brisket from the oven and allow it to rest for 15 minutes before shredding it with two forks.

Step 9

Warm the corn tortillas either in a dry skillet over medium heat or in the oven wrapped in foil.

Step 10

Assemble the tacos by placing a generous amount of shredded brisket onto each tortilla.

Step 11

Top with fresh cilantro, diced red onion, avocado slices, and a dollop of sour cream.

Step 12

Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade brisket tacos!
