Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices Thinly sliced ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 0.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1.5 cups Breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

Place the chicken breasts on a cutting board and cover them with plastic wrap. Use a meat mallet to pound the chicken breasts to about 1/4-inch thickness.

Step 3

Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper.

Step 4

Lay a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast. Tightly roll up each breast and secure with toothpicks.

Step 5

Prepare three shallow dishes: one with the flour, another with beaten eggs, and the third with breadcrumbs.

Step 6

Dredge each chicken roll in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.

Step 7

In a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat, melt the butter with the olive oil.

Step 8

Once the butter has melted and is foaming, add the breaded chicken rolls. Cook, turning frequently, until golden brown on all sides, about 6 minutes.

Step 9

Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Step 10

Remove the toothpicks before serving and slice each roll crosswise. Serve immediately for a delicious and crispy chicken cordon bleu.
