Ingredients

  • 6 large Egg yolks
  • 0.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.75 cups Bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 6 large Egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1

In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is thick and pale, about 2-3 minutes.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir occasionally and heat until the mixture is just about to simmer, but do not boil.

Slowly pour the heated milk mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly to temper the eggs and prevent curdling.
