Ingredients

  • 1 Large orange (seedless, skin on)
  • 200 grams Granulated sugar
  • 120 milliliters Vegetable oil
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 240 grams All-purpose flour
  • 10 grams Baking powder
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 10 grams Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

Wash the orange thoroughly and cut it into quarters. Ensure there are no seeds.

Step 3

In a blender, add the orange quarters (with the peel), granulated sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs. Blend on high speed until smooth and well combined.

Step 4

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix well to evenly distribute the dry ingredients.

Step 5

Pour the orange mixture from the blender into the bowl of dry ingredients. Using a spatula or a whisk, gently fold the wet and dry ingredients together until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the cake light and tender.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Step 8

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar if desired, slice, and serve. Enjoy!
