Ingredients

  • 4 pieces chicken breasts
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, combine paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to create the spice rub.

Step 2

Place the chicken breasts on a plate or cutting board. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

Step 3

Evenly coat each chicken breast on both sides with the spice rub, pressing gently to help the spices adhere.

Step 4

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

Step 5

Once the pan is hot, add the chicken breasts to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on the first side, undisturbed, to allow the spices to form a crust.

Step 6

Flip the chicken breasts and add the remaining tablespoon of butter to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the second side.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, flipping occasionally, until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).

Step 8

Remove the chicken breasts from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving to lock in the juices.

Step 9

Serve hot with your favorite side dishes, such as steamed vegetables, rice, or a crisp salad.
