Ingredients

  • 395 grams Sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 100 grams Desiccated coconut
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 20 pieces Whole cloves
  • 50 grams Additional desiccated coconut (for rolling)

Directions

Step 1

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, unsalted butter, and 100 grams of desiccated coconut.

Step 2

Place the saucepan over medium heat and continuously stir the mixture with a wooden spoon to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.

Step 3

Continue stirring and cooking the mixture for approximately 10-15 minutes, until it thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the saucepan.

Step 4

Once the mixture reaches the desired consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool to room temperature. You can speed up the cooling process by transferring it to a bowl and placing it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

Step 5

Once cooled, lightly butter your hands and begin shaping the mixture into small balls, approximately the size of a tablespoon each.

Step 6

Roll each ball in the additional desiccated coconut until fully coated.

Step 7

Then, roll the coconut-coated balls in the granulated sugar to give them a nice sugary coating.

Step 8

Garnish each beijinho with a whole clove pressed gently into the top for a traditional touch.

Step 9

Repeat these steps until all the mixture is used up.

Step 10

Serve the beijinhos on a platter or in small decorative candy cups for an attractive presentation.
