Ingredients

  • 3 medium Apples
  • 200 grams All-purpose flour
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 large Egg
  • 250 milliliters Whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon juice
  • 500 milliliters Vegetable oil
  • 50 grams Powdered sugar

Directions

Step 1

Peel and core the apples. Slice the apples horizontally into 1/4-inch thick rings. Drizzle the apple rings with lemon juice to prevent browning and set aside.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

In another bowl, beat the egg and mix with the milk and vanilla extract to combine.

Step 4

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until you have a smooth, thick batter.

Step 5

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 180°C (350°F).

Step 6

Dip each apple ring into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.

Step 7

Carefully place the coated apple rings into the hot oil. Be sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary.

Step 8

Fry each apple ring for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.

Step 9

Using a slotted spoon, remove the beignet pomme from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 10

Once slightly cooled, dust the apple fritters generously with powdered sugar.

Step 11

Serve warm and enjoy your homemade beignet pomme!
