Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, diced
  • 3 units Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp Taco seasoning
  • 0.33 cup Water
  • 6 units Flour tortillas (10-inch)
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Cooked rice (optional)
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 0.5 cup Salsa
  • 0.25 cup Cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Oil (for cooking)

Directions

Step 1

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the oil.

Step 2

Add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.

Step 3

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 5

Drain any excess grease from the skillet, if necessary.

Step 6

Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat.

Step 7

Warm the flour tortillas in a microwave or on a skillet to make them pliable.

Step 8

To assemble each burrito, lay a tortilla flat and spread a spoonful of sour cream in the center.

Step 9

Add a scoop of the ground beef mixture, a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese, and a spoonful of cooked rice (if using). Top with salsa and cilantro, if desired.

Step 10

Fold the sides of the tortilla inward, then roll it tightly from the bottom to form a burrito.

Step 11

Repeat the process for each tortilla.

Step 12

If desired, heat a clean skillet over medium-high heat and toast both sides of each burrito until golden and crispy, about 1-2 minutes per side.

Step 13

Serve hot with extra salsa, sour cream, or guacamole on the side.
