Ingredients

  • 500 grams beef sirloin
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium bell pepper
  • 3 pieces garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 100 milliliters water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Directions

Step 1

Slice the beef sirloin into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the beef strips with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for at least 10 minutes.

Step 3

While the beef is marinating, slice the onion and bell pepper into thin strips. Mince the garlic cloves.

Step 4

In a large pan or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 5

In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir-fry the minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 6

Add the sliced onion and bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.

Step 7

Return the beef to the pan, then sprinkle in the black pepper and add the oyster sauce, remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and sugar.

Step 8

Pour in the water and stir everything to combine well. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

Step 9

Add the sliced green onions and sesame oil, and give it a final toss to mix.

Step 10

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Serve hot with steamed rice.
