Ingredients

  • 500 grams Beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 250 grams Asparagus
  • 3 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Oyster sauce
  • 4 units Garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 4 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil

Directions

Step 1

Thinly slice the beef against the grain into strips about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of water, cornstarch, and black pepper. Add the sliced beef and mix well to coat. Marinate for 15 minutes.

Step 3

Wash the asparagus and trim the tough ends. Cut the spears into 2-inch pieces.

Step 4

Mince the garlic and ginger. Set them aside.

Step 5

In a small bowl, combine the oyster sauce, 3 tablespoons of water, sugar, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and set aside.

Step 6

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Step 7

In the same skillet, add the second tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the minced garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 8

Add the asparagus to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until tender but still crisp.

Step 9

Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the oyster sauce mixture over the beef and asparagus. Stir everything together and cook for 1-2 more minutes to allow the flavors to combine.

Step 10

Serve hot over steamed rice or as a standalone dish. Enjoy!
