Ingredients

  • 5 pounds bone-in ham (fully cooked)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.25 cup water

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).

Step 2

Place the ham in a large roasting pan, flat-side down. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern using a sharp knife, being careful not to cut too deeply.

Step 3

In a medium saucepan, combine the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and water. Stir the mixture well and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Let the glaze cook for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened, then remove it from the heat.

Step 4

Brush about half of the prepared glaze all over the surface of the ham, making sure to get it into the scored grooves for extra flavor.

Step 5

Cover the roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake the ham in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

Step 6

After 1 hour, remove the foil and baste the ham with the remaining glaze. Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Baste it one more time halfway through for extra flavor.

Step 7

Once the ham is caramelized and heated through, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 8

Serve warm and enjoy your flavorful barbecued ham with your favorite side dishes!
