Ingredients

  • 2 whole quinces
  • 4 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 whole cinnamon stick
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup plain yoghurt
  • 2 tablespoons pistachios (optional, for garnish)
  • 4 leaves mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Wash and peel the quinces, then slice them in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the cores to create a hollow in the center of each half.

Step 3

Place the quince halves cut side up in a baking dish. Add the cinnamon stick and pour the water around the quinces into the baking dish.

Step 4

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, stir in the honey until well combined.

Step 5

Drizzle the butter and honey mixture over the top of the quince halves, ensuring each is evenly coated.

Step 6

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil to trap the steam, then place the dish in the preheated oven.

Step 7

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the quinces are easily pierced with a fork and have turned a rich rosy color.

Step 8

Remove the dish from the oven and let the quinces cool slightly before serving.

Step 9

To serve, place a baked quince half on a plate, drizzle with some of the syrup from the baking dish, and add a dollop of plain yoghurt on the side.

Step 10

For optional garnishes, sprinkle with chopped pistachios and add a couple of fresh mint leaves for a burst of color and flavor.
