Ingredients

  • 12 pieces Lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 0.5 pound Ground Italian sausage
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 medium Yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 cups Marinara sauce
  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 4 cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and lay the noodles flat on a large plate or sheet of parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.

Step 4

Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until the meat is browned and no longer pink, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Step 5

Stir in the marinara sauce, salt, and black pepper. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove from heat.

Step 6

In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, chopped parsley, and 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until well combined.

Step 7

Spread 1 cup of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 8

Place 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce, slightly overlapping them. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, and 1 cup of meat sauce. Repeat this layering process twice more.

Step 9

Top the final layer with the remaining lasagna noodles, the remaining meat sauce, and the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Step 10

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil (spray the underside of the foil with cooking spray to prevent sticking).

Step 11

Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Step 12

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
