Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 medium, chopped yellow onion
  • 3 cloves, minced garlic
  • 4 cups canned baked beans
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet, crumble it, and set aside. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.

Step 3

In the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic to the onions and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring frequently.

Step 5

In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned baked beans, cooked onions and garlic, crumbled bacon, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and salt.

Step 6

Mix the ingredients well to ensure everything is evenly incorporated.

Step 7

Pour the bean mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.

Step 8

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Step 9

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 45 minutes, or until the beans are bubbly and caramelized on top.

Step 10

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Step 11

Serve warm as a side dish or enjoy as a hearty main.
