Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 pieces bacon strips
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 pieces hamburger buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 pieces lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices tomato slices
  • 4 slices onion slices
  • 0 ketchup
  • 0 mustard

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

Step 2

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from bulging during cooking.

Step 3

Place a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add the bacon strips and cook until crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spatula and drain on paper towels.

Step 4

In the same skillet, remove excess bacon fat leaving about 1 tablespoon. Increase the heat to medium-high.

Step 5

Place the beef patties in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes or until desired doneness and the cheese has melted.

Step 6

While the burgers are cooking, butter the inside of the hamburger buns lightly and toast them in a separate skillet or toaster until golden brown.

Step 7

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each toasted bun, followed by a beef patty with melted cheddar, two slices of bacon, a slice of tomato, and an onion slice.

Step 8

Spread ketchup and mustard on the top half of the buns if desired. Place the tops on the burgers and serve immediately.
