Ingredients

  • 1 piece Pie crust (unbaked)
  • 6 cups Apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled, cored, and sliced)
  • 0.75 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 0.25 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter (cut into small cubes)
  • 0.5 cups Heavy cream
  • 0.75 cups Pecans (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoons Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie pan and crimp the edges. Set aside.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Toss the mixture until the apples are evenly coated.

Step 3

Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly. Dot the top with the cubed butter.

Step 4

Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.

Step 5

While the pie is baking, make the praline topping. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly, and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.

Step 6

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the chopped pecans and vanilla extract. Set the praline sauce aside to cool slightly.

Step 7

Once the pie is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Then, drizzle the praline sauce evenly over the top of the pie.

Step 8

Allow the pie to set for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
