Ingredients

  • 6 medium-sized Apples (any sweet variety like Fuji or Gala)
  • 0.5 cup Pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 0.5 cup Water

Directions

Step 1

Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.

Step 2

In a large pot or saucepan, combine the chopped apples, maple syrup, granulated sugar, lemon juice, and water.

Step 3

Place the pot over medium heat and stir gently to combine the ingredients.

Step 4

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, or until the apples become soft and start to break down.

Step 5

As the mixture simmers, use a spoon or potato masher to gently mash the apples into a chunky consistency. For a smoother texture, you can use an immersion blender at this stage.

Step 6

If using ground cinnamon, stir it in during the last 10 minutes of cooking.

Step 7

Continue to simmer the jam until it thickens to your desired consistency. To test, drop a small amount of jam onto a cold plate and let it sit for a minute. If it holds its shape and doesn’t run, it’s ready.

Step 8

Remove the pot from heat and let the jam cool for 10 minutes.

Step 9

Carefully transfer the jam into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace. Seal the jars with lids while the jam is still warm.

Step 10

Allow the jars to cool completely at room temperature before storing in the refrigerator or a cool, dark place. Use within 3-4 weeks if refrigerated or process in a water bath canner for long-term storage.
