Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Medium-sized potatoes
  • 0.25 cup Green peas
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 piece Green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon Roasted cumin powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Chaat masala
  • 2 tablespoons Cornflour
  • 1 cup Oil for shallow frying

Directions

Step 1

Boil the potatoes until they are soft, about 15 minutes. Allow them to cool and then peel the skins off.

Step 2

Mash the potatoes in a large mixing bowl until smooth and free of lumps.

Step 3

Steam the green peas for 5 minutes or until tender, then slightly mash them and add to the mashed potatoes.

Step 4

Add chopped cilantro, green chili, grated ginger, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, salt, chaat masala, and cornflour to the mashed potatoes.

Step 5

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.

Step 6

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a flat, round patty about 2-3 inches in diameter.

Step 7

Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.

Step 8

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the aloo tiki patties in the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.

Step 9

Remove the aloo tiki from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Step 10

Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
