Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp Onion powder
  • 4 Brioche burger buns
  • 4 Cheddar cheese slices
  • 4 Lettuce leaves
  • 4 Tomato slices
  • 8 Pickle slices
  • 0.25 cups Ketchup
  • 0.25 cups Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill or stovetop griddle to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

Step 3

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Use your thumb to press a shallow indentation in the center of each patty; this helps prevent puffing as they cook.

Step 4

Lightly oil the grill or griddle with vegetable oil to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Place the patties on the grill or griddle. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. Adjust the time for your preferred level of doneness.

Step 6

When the patties are almost done, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each and allow it to melt slightly, about 1 minute.

Step 7

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or griddle for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by spreading ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard on the bottom half of each bun.

Step 9

Place a lettuce leaf on the sauced bun, followed by a cooked beef patty with melted cheese, a tomato slice, and two pickle slices.

Step 10

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with your favorite sides!
