Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 0.5 lb Ground pork
  • 0.5 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 15 oz Tomato sauce
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 2 cups White rice (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until evenly combined.

Step 2

Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a plate or tray.

Step 3

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Brown the meatballs in batches, turning carefully to brown all sides. Remove the browned meatballs and set them aside on a plate.

Step 4

In the same skillet, pour in the tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir to combine, then add the bay leaf.

Step 5

Return the meatballs to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

Step 6

Cover the skillet with a lid and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure the meatballs cook evenly.

Step 7

Remove the bay leaf before serving. Serve warm over white rice, if desired.
