Ingredients

  • 480 grams All-purpose flour
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 8 grams Salt
  • 7 grams Instant yeast
  • 240 milliliters Warm milk
  • 40 grams Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 whole Large egg
  • 10 grams Sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 portion Egg wash (1 egg whisked with 1 tablespoon water)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Stir to combine.

Step 2

Gradually add the warm milk, melted butter, and one egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until the dough begins to come together.

Step 3

Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes by hand on a floured surface or for 5–6 minutes with the dough hook attachment on medium speed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and allow the dough to rise in a warm spot for 1–1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Punch down the risen dough to release the air. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions (approximately 100 grams each).
